A message from Merrymount Family Support and Crisis Centre Executive Director,
Michelle Franklin:
Merrymount Family Support and Crisis Centre became incorporated on Nov 14, 1874, and began as the Protestant Home for Orphans, Aged and Friendless. However, 9 years later, our mandate changed to focus on children only. Today, we are an accredited children’s mental health organization with a mission to support the overall wellbeing of children and their families.
When I reflect on the long history of Merrymount, I am absolutely in awe of the resilience and adaptability of the organization to have effectively navigated through a century and a half of social, economic, and political climates, which I think speaks highly of its strong leadership throughout the years.
The other thing that strikes me is the sheer number of vulnerable people, children and families that Merrymount has supported over multiple generations. Having such a deep-rooted impact on so many families has earned Merrymount a reputation of reliability, dependability and unwavering dedication to supporting the wellbeing of children and families.
I truly feel privileged to work for such an amazing organization and am so proud of the breadth and quality of the programs and services Merrymount offers and the dedicated and passionate staff team who deliver them.
Congratulations on 150 years Merrymount!
